Jobs & training · Alabama

Alabama's substance-use peer credential, coordinated by ADMH's Office of Peer Programs — the second of Alabama's two distinct peer credentials (the other is the Certified Peer Specialist, CPS, for mental health recovery). A CRSS is a person living in recovery with a substance use disorder, trained and certified by ADMH to use their personal recovery story to help others build their own recovery plan. Requirements as published by ADMH: minimum 2 years of continuous demonstrated recovery from a substance use disorder, high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, two written references, 40 hours of ADMH-approved CRSS training, and passing the exam with a score of at least 70. ADMH covers the cost of training, hotel and meals. To keep the credential, a CRSS must earn 16 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) each calendar year.
